Carrie Bradshaw DIY Halloween Costume

I decided at the last minute that I wanted to dress up for our annual Halloween get-together to hand out candy. If you want a last-minute DIY Halloween costume that’s chic, easy to pull together, and instantly recognizable, Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City is one you can definitely do. You probably already know that this is one of my favorite shows that I can watch at any given time. This look is so nostalgic and will work for any costume party.

Carrie Bradshaw DIY Costume Essentials

Here is what you’ll need.

• Pink bodysuit or fitted tee.
• White tulle skirt
• Heels
• Carrie Necklace
• Small clutch or handbag
• Cosmopolitan to carry
• Faux cigarette
• Curly hair with a curling wand

Iconic Carrie Bradshaw Accessories

It just wouldn’t be Carrie without her iconic accessories. Now, let’s break down some of the things I added to complete the look.

Carrie Name Necklace

A gold nameplate necklace is a must. You can grab a replica online or wear one with your own name. It’s the easiest way to make the look feel authentic.

Small Handbag or Clutch

Carrie loves a good statement bag. A small clutch, vintage purse, or something with a bit of sparkle ties everything together.

Cosmo or Martini Glass Prop

A faux Cosmopolitan (or a real one if you’re out with friends) is such a fun touch. A pink drink in a martini glass instantly says “Carrie.”

Fake Cigarette

So I went the extra mile and wanted to use a fake cigarette. It is definitely optional, but you know Carrie.

How to Get the Carrie Bradshaw Curls

Oh, how I’d love to have Carrie’s hair curls. I tried to recreate her classic look using a 3/4-inch curling wand. I was really happy the way it turned out. I just sectioned my hair and curled small pieces away from my face until I liked the way it looked. Then I let the curls cool and finish with a flexible hairspray. If you have longer hair, you could use an even smaller wand (1/ 2-inch) for tighter curls.

Putting together this look reminded me of why Carrie Bradshaw is such an icon. It’s classic, fun, and so easy to recreate without spending a ton. Whether you’re heading to a party or just dressing up with friends, a few signature pieces are all you need to feel fabulous.
