My Healthy and Unhealthy Habits

I do my best to live a healthy lifestyle, but trust me when I say I am not perfect. Sometimes people assume I don’t eat sweets, pasta or a roll with dinner. Trust me when I say, I do. It’s called balance. So I thought it would be fun to share some of my healthy habits and unhealthy habits with you.

My Healthy Habits

I drink apple cider vinegar with honey every morning…

I do this before I even drink my coffee and sometimes I even skip the coffee. Here are some of the benefits of drinking this.

  • Helps with digestion and constipation
  • Helps with bloating
  • Helps with joint pain
  • Boosts energy
  • Drinking the apple cider vinegar and honey can help alkalize the body. This raises the pH level back to its natural state, making it easier to fight off germs and ailments.

You get my recipe here and read my full post.

I workout at least three times a week, sometimes four…

My husband and I go to the gym together and workout with our personal trainer three days a week. We started this January of 2017. If I am able to get the fourth day in, I do an At Home Workout you can see here.

Before I had a trainer, I worked out two – three days a week in a kickboxing class and in the gym. Before that, I tried Crossfit.

Working out is very important to me. I don’t love it and sometimes it’s a struggle. However, I always feel amazing after I do. It’s a must for me. If you have been following me for some time now, you know I have struggled with my weight over the years.

I eat mostly organic fruits, vegetables, and meat…

I recently cut back on meat (pork, beef, and chicken). I still eat meat, but I really try to only eat organic. I do however eat a lot of fish and seafood. As well as lots of vegetables and fruits.

We have been using a food subscription service called Green Chef for two years now. It’s all organic healthy ingredients shipped right to your door. You can actually try one week for FREE and just pay $9 for shipping by using my link.

I Juice fresh vegetables and fruits several times a week…

I love my fresh green juice. My body actually craves it. See my full post here.

Healthy Green Juice

I drink a lot of water…

I love water, Always have. Staying hydrated is a must. Especially if you workout a lot.  So start drinking up. I carry a large cup of water with me everywhere I go, so always have water with me.

I keep a prayer/gratitude journal…

This is something I started on my weight loss journey years ago. I would write my prayer down for the day. I would ask Him for guidance in my journey to lose weight. I would express my frustrations too. I also write down a few things I am thankful for. It’s fun to look back at past entries and see how far God has taken me. Because I know without Him, it couldn’t have been done.

My Not So Healthy Habits

I use artificial sweeteners in my coffee…

I use Splenda in my coffee and sometimes I use Sweet’N Low. I also use a lot of creamer in my coffee. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes at the age of twelve. At that time sugar was off limits for me and sugar substitutes is what I was taught to use. A lot has changed since then.

A Cup Full of Sass - Healthy and Not so Healthy Habits

I drink Sprite Zero a few times a week…

I love me a can of Sprite Zero. Again, artificial sweeteners. It’s bad, I know. I still drink diet soda some.

I Love Carrot Cake…

I Love Carrot Cake. Every time we go out for dinner I almost always order dessert. If you follow me on my Instagram Stories, you know this. You should be following me if you aren’t already. I love conecting with you, my readers.

I drink Wine…

I love wine and I drink a glass often. My favorite wines are dry white. I am a big fan of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio and Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon blanc. Wine is considered a food group to me. 🙂

If wine is a food group to you, Diet Coke is to me! I’ve ditched my ‘habit’ for years at a time only to return to it. I am a Type 2 diabetic and have been told artificial sweeteners are the devil but what’s a girl to do?

    Oh the struggle is real!!
I buy tons of organic fruits & veggies, turkey, chicken, grass fed beef, etc.
I take a ton of supplements..most of which are plant based and/or organic.
I even switched to a plant based protein shake that costs a fortune.

And then….I go to the drive thru. Ugh!
Just canceled it all out! LOL
But at least I’m trying! 🙂
