Botox & Fillers Before and After

Have you ever been curious about Botox and Juvederm (Fillers)? I recently had both of these procedures and wanted to share my experience with you. I’ve reached that age where lines and wrinkles have really set in. So I looked into Botox and Juvederm.

I went to Dr. Deisher at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery. Dr. Deisher is a board certified plastic surgeon. He has been in practice since 1995. I can honestly say, I trust him 100%. He and his staff are amazing!

As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by his friendly staff and led into a private waiting room. This is where a member of his staff applied numbing cream to my face. After the numbing cream started to work, I was taken into a procedure room. Dr. Deisher was very informative with each treatment he would be doing. The procedure took about 15 minutes. After it was over I was instructed to use an ice pack for about 10 – 15 minutes.

What is Botox?

Botox is a prescription drug that is injected into muscles to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), on the forehead, and around the eyes. See more here.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox relaxes the tiny facial muscles linked to expression and prevents them from contracting. After a Botox procedure, the overlying skin remains silky and unwrinkled, while the untreated muscles contract normally. See more here.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Botox can last up to 4 months. Results vary.

Does It Hurt?

Not at all. They applied a topical numbing cream to my face. I felt some tiny pinches, but I was not uncomfortable at all.

What Is Juvederm XC (Fillers)?

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC It is often used for the parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. They can also be used to plump and define lips and fill hollow areas on the face. See more here.

How Does Juvederm XC (Fillers) Work?

The substance that makes up the Juvederm Ultra Plus XC treatment is technically called hyaluronic acid. This lubricant occurs naturally in the body. Since this is a naturally occurring substance, many feel it is a better option for reducing the signs of aging such as frown lines, crow’s feet and laugh lines. See more here.

How Long Does Juvederm XC (Fillers) Last?

Results can last up to 6-8 months.

Does It Hurt?

No, it was just like the Botox injections. Again, I have the topical numbing cream on my face.

This is how my face looked as soon as my treatment was finished. You may notice I have raised bumps in and around the forehead, but after icing the areas my face returned to normal.

This is what Dr. Deisher used for my treatment.

Botox (3 syringes):

Forehead: 25 units

Glabella: 20 units in glabella

Crow’s lines:  12.5 units each side

Central Under Eye: 2.5 units each side

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC (1 syringe):

Nasolabial folds: 0.35 mL each side

Marionette lines (oral commissures): 0.1 mL on each oral side

I took a photo as soon as I left my appointment. I could instantly see the results of the Juvederm Ultra Plus XC (Filler) around the Marionette Lines. The Botox results take a little longer to show. However, they do start showing the next day and will continue to improve over the next 30 days.

My overall experience with Botox and Juvederm (Fillers) is better than I could have hoped. I have seen a drastic difference in my face and could not be happier with my results.

Thank you Sarah! It is different for each Surgeon. Where I went is $350 per Botox syringe. The Fillers are more expensive, and the surgeon could tell you an exact amount for that procedure.

I was so surprised to see you traveled to Cape when you live in St Louis. I am from the Cape area and did not realize Dr Deisher was the best !
